The film shows snap­shots of the dif­fe­rent eras of the Berlin opera insti­tu­tion, from the begin­ning until today. Artists talk about their lives which are asso­ciated with The Deut­sche Oper.

First of all, Diet­rich Fischer-Dieskau has to be men­tioned. Only a few weeks before his death he talks detailed and empha­ti­cally about the begin­ning of his career right after the Second World War and the Fif­ties. Fur­ther­more, there are Christa Ludwig, René Kollo, Karan Arm­strong, Hans Neu­en­fels, Donald Run­ni­cles and  Ari­bert Rei­mann. Defi­ning per­so­na­li­ties of the history like general admin­stra­tors Carl Ebert, Gustav Rudolf Sellner, Götz Fried­rich and others are also presented.

Enrique Sán­chez Lansch is part of the jury of the „Chop­Shots Docu­men­tary Film Fes­tival Sou­theast Asia” in Jakarta from Dec 5–9, 2012. Docu­men­ta­ries from all over the world will be screened during the film fes­tival, some of which have never been shown in Sou­theast Asia before. The pro­gram con­sists of the cate­go­ries „inter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion” and „best short film of Sou­theast Asia”. There will also be other docu­men­ta­ries apart from the competitions.

Enrique Sán­chez Lansch was invited to vote for the best of the 13 full-length docu­men­tary films in the cate­gory „inter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tion”. The films ana­lyse the issue of social struc­tures in various cul­tural cir­cum­stances.  The award „best full-length docu­men­tary” is con­nected with 5000 EUR price money.

"Somewhere in the world - Dagmar Manzel discovers W. R. Heymann" on WDR

In seinem Film begleitet Enrique Sán­chez Lansch die Schau­spie­lerin Dagmar Manzel auf ihrer  musi­ka­li­schen Ent­de­ckungs­reise auf den Spuren des Film­kom­po­nisten Werner Richard Heymann. Zusammen mit dem Pia­nisten Tal Balshai und wei­teren Musi­kern inter­pre­tiert Dagmar Manzel unver­gess­liche Melo­dien wie „Ein Freund, ein guter Freund”, „Das gibt’s nur einmal, das kommt nicht wieder” oder „Irgendwo auf der Welt gibt’s ein kleines biss­chen Glück“ in neuen Arran­ge­ments mit unge­wohnten Klängen.

Beide ent­de­cken auch Rari­täten aus dem Schaffen Heymanns, der nicht nur für Lilian Harvey, Greta Garbo und Hil­de­gard Knef kom­po­nierte, son­dern Rilke ver­tonte, fürs Kaba­rett und die Ope­ret­ten­bühne schrieb.

Die Kamera ist beim gesamten Erar­bei­tungs­pro­zess dabei, bei Proben, Üben und Gesangs­un­ter­richt bis hin zum Kon­zert. Hinzu kommen Treffen zwi­schen Dagmar Manzel und Eli­sa­beth Heymann, W.R. Heymanns Tochter.

This year the con­cert film  „Herbie Han­cock, Gus­tavo Dudamel and the LA Phil Cele­brate Gershwin”, was EMMY-nominated  in the cate­gory  „Out­stan­ding Spe­cial Class Programs“.


The awar­ding  of the most important TV-Award took place at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on 15 th sep­tember 2012.
